Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree: Master of Science in Imaging and Light in Extended Reality (IMLEX)

The Master of Science in Imaging and Light in Extended Reality (IMLEX) is a unique Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program, co-funded by the European Commission and the Japanese Ministry of Education. This program combines European and Japanese expertise to prepare students for high-demand careers in virtual reality, robotics, and extended reality (XR). This multidisciplinary program is a partnership among top universities in Europe and Japan, including the University of Eastern Finland, Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan, University Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne in France, and KU Leuven in Belgium. • Participation Costs: This includes tuition fees, access to labs, libraries, and any other academic resources.
• Full Insurance Coverage: Health and travel insurance are provided for the program duration.
• Monthly Stipend: Students receive EUR 1,400 per month for living expenses throughout the program's two-year duration.
• Travel and Installation Allowance: A one-time travel and installation allowance is provided based on the student's home location relative to Europe.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the IMLEX Master’s Program, applicants must:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, or a related field.
• Demonstrate a good command of English: Accepted tests include TOEFL iBT (minimum score 92), IELTS Academic (6.5), PTE Academic (62), or equivalent. Alternatively, candidates with prior higher education degrees taught in English may qualify without these tests.
• Meet academic requirements for courses like mathematics, data structures, algorithms, imaging, XR, computer graphics, electronics, or lighting. Relevant work experience or additional studies in these areas may also be considered.
