Visiting Scholars program

The U.S. Embassy Dhaka is excited to announce the 2025-26 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, inviting applications from experienced professionals, university faculty, and researchers in Bangladesh. This prestigious program offers the opportunity to conduct post-doctoral research or teach at U.S. institutions for six to nine months, beginning in September 2025.

Program Overview

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is a flagship professional development initiative that supports scholars in building academic and professional networks while contributing to institutional growth and cross-cultural understanding.

Key Features:

  • Research Grants: Scholars conduct needs assessments, engage in institutional or program development, consult on faculty development, and design or evaluate curricula and educational materials.
  • Lecturing Grants: These are one- or two-semester grants for scholars to teach at U.S. universities. Applicants must have substantial teaching experience and a confirmed invitation from a host institution.

During the program, scholars can participate in activities like:

  • Outreach Lecturing Fund (OLF): Allows U.S. institutions to virtually host Fulbright Visiting Scholars for short-term lectures, promoting academic disciplines and fostering cultural exchange. The fund prioritizes institutions underrepresented in the Fulbright Program, such as minority-serving colleges and geographically diverse schools.
